Capturing genuine moments and emotions is a matter of knowing how and when to engage, and when to sit back, be a fly on the wall, and just shoot.

Three quick tips for capturing genuine moments and emotions in your sessions:

1. Instill trust in your clients long before the day of the session through your marketing and communication. It's imperative they show up to their session knowing and feeling they are in great hands and have the space to be themselves.

2.  Communicate to your clients that you'll redirect anything that needs it, otherwise, if not - it means it's perfect and you're going with it. They don't need to think about the details, that's your job.

"So don't tell your children to smile, sit up straight, etc. Just relax, enjoy the time with your little ones, and LET THEM BE LITTLE and enjoy that little-ness. They want to run through the field pretending they are butterflies? Step back into the magic of childhood imagination, and be a butterfly with them."

3. Give your families direction or activities, and then give space to allow those moments to unfold and turn into more moments. Don’t rush it.
